Mortgage Pre-Approval Is Important For Home Buyers
Why should I get a pre-approval?
If you're considering buying a house, one of the very first things you should do is get a lender pre-approval.
It benefits you and your agent in a lot of different ways. It's easier to house hunt because we know what price range you'll be approved for. We can narrow down our search to houses that are financially comfortable and fit within your budget. Pre-approvals are not difficult to get. Your lender will most likely ask for the following:
- Gross income
- Social security number (to pull credit)
- Two years residence history
- Two years employment history
- How much money you plan to put down, and where it is coming from
If you're self-employed or a contractor, expect to provide two years of your tax returns.
When your home is under contract and it's time to apply for a loan, you do not have to go with the lender who gave you the pre-approval. In fact, I suggest shopping around to make sure you're getting the best rate and the best terms.
If you're looking for some suggested lenders, contact me and I'll refer you to a few that I like to work with and usually have very good rates. I don't benefit in any way from such a referral, I just want to make the process as easy and beneficial to you as possible.
