About Morningside

Morningside is one of Pittsburgh's best-kept secrets. Close-knit and friendly, neighbors live in two-story brick homes with old-fashioned porches encouraging long talks or quick chats with friends and neighbors. Children ride their bicycles in the gentle shade of the trees that line the sidewalks, and joggers have two square miles of the neighborhood to explore.

Located east of Downtown, the neighborhood has tree-lined streets and two-story brick homes with porches. Morningside was a farming community until 1905, when the Chislett Street trolley line came. Significant residential development followed several years later.

A featured annual event here is the St. Rocco Festival, which takes place for two days in August and consists of an Italian mass followed by singing, dancing, and a fireworks display.

There are plenty of ball fields and playgrounds for children, and it is within walking distance of Highland Park and the Pittsburgh Zoo and is just a short drive to the Waterworks Mall.

Morningside remains a stable, prosperous community for its hard-working residents. The neighborhood has strong ethnic roots, with local churches actively participating in community programs.
